Electric truck crane supports logistics at a height of 21 m

With the new Böcker AK 48e truck crane, electric working on the construction site is a reality - powerful, quiet and emission-free. The long-lasting crane operation via the battery for an entire working day is a significant advance, especially for urban construction sites.

The AK 48e mobile crane impressively demonstrated the benefits and performance of electric crane technology in the new construction of a large logistics hall with three additional office floors. It took on central transportation tasks on the 21 m high flat roof of the four-storey building. First, the AK 48e lifted pallets weighing up to 400 kg with large skylights onto the roof of the hall. These had to be set down as far out onto the roof surface as possible in order to reduce the logistical process at height. The crane also made it considerably easier to remove them from the roof. Using the tower crane function, it was possible to quickly remove empty pallets, metal buckets and a concrete mixer from the roof, for example.

The AK 48e is built on a MAN chassis, although variants with Mercedes, Volvo or Scania vehicles are also available as an alternative. The carrier vehicle is conventionally powered by an internal combustion engine to ensure reliable access to the construction site, while crane work on site is carried out purely electrically and flexibly without a power connection thanks to the high battery capacity. With this concept, the AK 48e combines the advantages of quiet electric operation with the mobility of proven technology.

Equipped with a newly developed efficient drive concept and a 30 kWh battery, the electric crane is designed for an entire working day without a power connection. Its low energy consumption allows up to 150 lifts or more than eight hours of average usage time in battery mode. The crane also uses the energy recovered when lowering loads to further increase efficiency and runtime. Thanks to fast charging times, the battery is then recharged from 20 to 80 % in just one hour and 35 minutes. The crane can be charged flexibly at a 230 V household socket or with a 400 V power supply and, in future, even at a wallbox.

The AK 48e also sets standards in terms of performance. It scores points with high rope speeds of up to 60 m/min, payloads of up to 3 t (opt. 6 t) and extension lengths of up to 49 m (opt. 52 m) for use on industrial buildings and large high-rise buildings. At the logistics hall, the AK 48e with its long reach not only contributed to the optimization of construction site logistics, but also sent a clear signal for the change towards low-emission, future-oriented solutions.
