Whether commuting to work, working out, or spending the weekend with family—every kilometer cycled counted and could be easily tracked using the STADTRADELN app. Over the course of three weeks, the Böcker colleagues—as the fourth-largest team in the city of Werne—cycled a total of 6,948 km. In the competition within the municipality for the most kilometers cycled, the team took a respectable fifth place.
As the most prolific kilometer collector, Mike Warmuth—currently working as a student intern in production planning and control—cycled a sensational 1,344 km to take the lead on the Böcker team. Having just finished writing his bachelor’s thesis, he was able to really hit his stride during STADTRADELN. Mike almost always rides his road bike on his commute from Lünen to Werne. Dortmund Airport is also one of his favorite destinations. During his vacation in Mallorca, which fell within the campaign period, he explored the island on two wheels. For his achievement, Mike received a gift certificate for the Böcker Shop, and with his new softshell jacket, he’s now perfectly equipped for wind and weather. His wife and godchild also gave him a special treat: they embellished his Böcker polo shirt with an embroidered bicycle patch, which he now proudly wears on his chest.
Even when compared to all participants in the municipality, Mike was among the very best. He took third place among the top individual cyclists in Werne. To mark the award ceremony, the city of Werne hosted a celebration with food and drinks, and Mayor Lothar Christ presented Mike with a certificate and a gift card. The entire Böcker team was also honored for taking second place in the Companies and Businesses category.
We’ll be competing with a team in STADTRADELN again next year. We look forward to having many participants join us and are eager to see if we can top our strong result.
