Starting July 1, 2026, BG BAU is providing funding for drones as an occupational safety measure for the first time—up to 2,000 euros per member company per year.
Eligible for funding are suitable C1 and C2 drones, the EU A2 drone license (including hands-on training), and registration with the Federal Aviation Authority.
For solar installers, roofers, carpenters, and scaffolders, drones offer several advantages: roof inspections, measurements, and documentation can be carried out safely from the ground. This reduces the risk of falls, saves time, and provides precise data for planning and preparing quotes.
FAQ on the BG-BAU Drone Funding Program
Who is eligible to apply for drone funding?
BG BAU member companies that use drones for commercial purposes.
How much is the grant?
Funding covers up to 50% of the total net costs, up to a maximum of 2,000 euros per year per member business.
Which drones are eligible for funding?
Certified and marked Class C1 and C2 drones. All Böcker AirScanner models are eligible for funding.
From what purchase date does the subsidy apply?
The drone must have been purchased on or after January 1, 2026.
Does the drone have to be used for commercial purposes?
Yes. The flight log or logbook must document at least three commercial flights using the subsidized drone.
What kind of drone license is required?
All pilots must have a valid EU Class A2 drone pilot license.
Is the drone pilot's license also subsidized?
Yes. Funding is available for obtaining, extension, or renewal of the A2 drone license, including A1 and A3.
Is drone liability insurance required?
Yes. You must have valid drone liability insurance or proof that drone operations are covered under your general liability insurance.
Are the costs for LBA registration covered?
Yes. The fees for registering the drone operator with the Federal Aviation Authority may be taken into account within the funding limits.
