We are committed to transparently reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our international shipments. That is why we use DHL Express’s GoGreen Plus service for select air shipments. According to the DHL certificate, we were able to reduce well-to-wheel emissions* by 3.32 metric tons of CO₂e for air shipments processed through this service from January 1 to December 31, 2025. This corresponds to a 52.11% reduction compared to the standard reference transport service specified in the certificate.
The figures are based on a transport volume of 7,613.50 metric ton-kilometers:
GoGreen Plus Service: 3.05 metric tons of CO₂e*
Reference transport service: 6.38 metric tons of CO₂e*
CO₂e intensity with GoGreen Plus: 401.24 grams per tkm
CO₂e intensity of the reference transport service: 837.80 grams per tkm
The reported reduction is based on the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) within the DHL transport network. The SAF share stated in the certificate is 59.84%. Allocation is carried out via a so-called book-and-claim process: DHL procures the sustainable aviation fuel and allocates the associated emission reductions to the booked transport services for accounting purposes. The calculation takes into account emissions across the entire life cycle of the fuel—from production to use. According to the certificate, the recorded greenhouse gas emissions and the associated reductions were verified by the independent auditing firm SGS. The information applies exclusively to the DHL GoGreen Plus air shipments recorded in the certificate for the year 2025.
* Well-to-wheel emissions: Greenhouse gas emissions of an energy source over its entire life cycle, including the extraction, processing, and transport of the
fuel* CO₂e: CO₂ equivalents; in addition to carbon dioxide, other greenhouse gases are included in the calculation based on their climate impact
