First AK 42 in the UK for Berry Cranes

Crane hire and contract lift company Berry Cranes located in Silverstone has taken delivery of the first new Böcker AK 42 truck crane to be delivered to the UK. The new AK 42 is real game changer for compact truck cranes. It features innovative high-tensile steel boom profiles, giving lateral stability for heavy loads, and a clean modern appearance. The AK 42 also offers continuous slewing, and as ever with Böcker cranes a minimal tail swing for working in restricted spaces. A 180 degree jib position is now possible, as well as the new tower crane function meaning the boom can be lifted to 90 degrees and loads transported horizontally onto building by extending the jib.

The AK 42 performs all functions with outstanding working speeds from the powerful hydraulic system. The crane is capable of handling loads up to 6 t, has a boom plus jib combination of 42 m, and can also be specified with optional hybrid drive for working with zero emissions. As with all Böcker cranes, when driving on UK roads the cranes front overhang is always less than 2 m, for operation under construction and use regulations, which means there is no requirement to have an attendant to monitor the overhang.

Neil Berry of Berry Cranes states: "I am really pleased to carry on our long association with Böcker and to be the first company in the UK to take delivery of this AK 42 hybrid crane with its innovative and versatile tower crane function, further enhancing our fleet of Böcker cranes.”
